After spending far more time than I expected on choice of wheels, I think i might be close. But I wanted to get your feedback on style.
(these wheels will be going on a 74 coupe resto-mod; the color will be limerock green with white tail and stripe (motion/yenko style). The tail is from 80-82 bumper cover. Fenders are stock. Interior is stock medium saddle.)
I like the superlites, but am considering them in all black with red pin stripe on rim. I'm also considering a spinner. (Maybe because i grew up on Speed Racer.) Here's a few pics I found. If i can't find them in the size and finish, (18x8 or 18x9), I'll get them powder coated. the spinners look cool, but I'm concerned spinner AND stripe might be too much. Whaddaya y'all think?
This image is for illustrative purposes only:
And this one is to show the spinner. I think the polished spinner looks super sharp against the black wheel.
My opinion (which is worth $7.32) is that wheel #2 with the spinner looks great as is. I don't like the superlites and I think a red stripe wheel on a limerock green/white stripe/saddle interior car is a bit much (blahhh). There you go, $7.32 of opinion. I'm also great at accessorizing clothes.
Who makes wheel #2? I may look into a set of those.
Hey Revi, thanks, that's the type of feedback i'm looking for. On a related matter from your post: I've always thought Garanimals for adults would be a great concept. I could sure use it.
Mod75: 'love the pics in your album; that's the look I'm going for with the 80-82 bumper cover. Also I already have the LeMans style roller cap for the fuel door. It's one of my favorite eye-candy-accessory purchases so far. I'm second guessing not going with flares; you're look great!
Those spinners look hot. I currently have 15x8 TT2's in satin aluminum. I'm may powder coat them black as an interim step, like the photo below. Maybe instead of red stripe, make it a green stripe to match the car with a spinner on the TT2. Ohhhhh the possibilities are endless!
'Found this pick on another forum when searching for black torque thrust II's with red stripe.

Trans am Race Engineering makes hub centric Superlites in most sizes and B.S. for C3 corvettes. Nice wheels and good quality.
Contact Bob at Vintage wheels, vintagewheelsus.com and he can set you up with Trans am or he can go through ET who makes a beautiful Superlite wheel.
Vintage wheels also manufactures the 427 Cobra true pin drive wheels (notice there are no lug nuts) that are shown with the spinner, which actually holds the wheel on the hub. I believe they are available in polished, grey and black centers. Vintage wheel manufactures the Cobra wheels in Corvette hub patterns and back spacing for C3's. Swapping to a true pin drive wheel requires the hubs to be replaced and the wheels are pricey so it's not cheap.
Here is a photo of the ET Team 111 wheels from their website that I purchased for my 73.

Green car then yellow pinstripe Will you black out the spinner? If chrome or polished spinner then polish the lip, no stripe.. My opinion is only worth two cents
