in the shop is a 77 late prod..under the hood is an.."orange.."hot"..all the time wire...coming out of drive side wire harness...what does it go to...??
Possibly it is the possible alarm switch that is located in the left fender. 1977 Corvettes had them in the fender and then GM moved this switch to the left door lock cylinder.
Without a photo...describing it does no good.
Below is a photo of some car I found on the web that has the lock cylinder switch in the left fender by the crossflag emblem.
Hey...Dub...this 77 is a ...late one...alarm switch is in the...door lock...here is a..pic...the ..orange wire meets with the..yellow, at harness,...Dub..thanx for the..quick..replr

I have a pace car so it is fully loaded and the only things that dont work on it is the horn and wiper fluid pump, and my alarm so i'm assuming the wire is for one of those or it is just not important
well it is.."hot"..all the time...so it would be a..feed..for something...man..it is buggin me...and ..God forbid the..customer should ask what it is for...I have..no answer...akkk

yes...sam....cant find that wire on any wire diagrams...hmmm
Check your alarm horn on the firewall drivers side. The orange wire should attach directly to horn, yellow wire should have a ring style connector with the mounting bolt going through it.
I also have a late 77.

Im out of town right now but as far as i can remember their are no wires connecting to my horn and the only wire in the general area is that cut orange one. It could possibly go to a sensor and they disconnected it because the sensor was bad and it was causing something to go wrong. That is what happened to my brake proportioning valve.
this car was missing them...so i got em from...soffseal...look at this pic....see the hole..in the upper drive door....seems the new weatherstrip..is not the same as original??

Brian...yellow wire is the ..alert..wire to set off the horn...when the alarm triggers...and it is ..plugged into the horn...the orange is...HOT..if i plug that to the horn..it..will..blow...forever...
Yes yellow wire is the pulse signal from the alarm anti theft flasher relay.
If wired like the diagram, The only way the alarm sounds if these conditions are made. Now if the alarm is set and the horn just blows and does not pulse, then the anti alarm flasher relay is bad.

OK I get it...there are 2 terminals on the...alarm horn
Mine has the original weatherstrip and yes that hole is open like yours.
The original alarm horn only had one connector, yours may be a replacement.
Thanx...any way you could possibly send a pic of your drive door...like the one I posted?
Now I know what to do with that wire!
hey where did you get that ...wire diagram...
