Hello, I have a 1972 ls5 454/400 trans. It has a stock manifold with a quardrajet by carter (800 Cfm I think). It has 1 throttle return spring. Is it supposed to have 2? If the spring broke would it go full throttle like a holly carb or go to idle like Rochester?
Hi Eric,
There was just the single spring originally.
It was located as the one in your photo is.
I don't see any reason why you couldn't use a second spring if having the single causes you some concern.
Regards,
Alan
I believe typically folks find a spring with slightly less diameter that will slide into the larger spring, but has very close to the same length.
