I don't want to be a downer, so let this just be a 'cautious' piece of advice for you. Corvette restoration cannot be done on a tight budget. The body has to be prepped and repaired with very specific compounds. They are very susceptible to frame rot and more often than not cannot be economically repaired. Lastly.....big blocks are also quite a bit more money to maintain. (For example, small block performance heads can be found for a thousand bucks a set.....those same heads will set you back 2500 for a 454. )

I'm trying to tell you that you are going to need DEEP pockets for this hobby.

Whatever you think you will need to get this thing road worthy ($$), multiply it by 3.

Good luck. I hope someone with enough time and money can restore that. Nice find.

If it is, then I just found the motor for my resto mod without even screwing around on craigslist. ( me hoping, me hoping, me hoping)

One of my friends ran the vin number and nothing came up. It was with the Sheriff's dept. I think he said that after 20 years, they drop out of the system. Anyone know about this? Where else is the vin located, besides the pillar? I took the wheels off ,looked around on the frame and didn't see anything.

I'd pay $1000 just for the motor and parts and travel from tx to buy

O.K., it's been a full week all ready! Did you get it? Did you get it?
If not, can I?

I should be getting it on Tuesday. He had more work than he thought he had to do on the house. I will post more pics when it's at my house.

Make sure you check everywhere for any parts that you will be able to get with it. Who knows what has been stuck on a shelf or in a box somewhere.

Would be fun if the extra engine is a real L88 too...
the spare hood measures 56 1/2", roughly and the one on the car is 60 1/2" or so.

I finally got it home on Halloween night. Here are some pics now. I took the water neck off and found this!! both of the bolts broke off because they were frozen in the intake!

What are these ***** for? The one that looks like a tire valve and the one that has 2 metal studs beside it?

That **** and metal stubs are for the headlight over ride and the windshield wiper door over ride. I live not too far from Whittier and could come check it out for you if you want.

pic of the back of the car please. and that engine is most likely scrap metal. it has wiper door override? that engine pulling bracket on intake. I thought that was mercruiser. tilt tele wheel? intake casting number looks like 72 aluminum rectangle casting number.
