1981 cruise control issue
The cruise control on my '81 Corvette is working, but only if the speed is around 35-40 mph, anything higher it will not engage. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Thanks.

The only difference between 1979 and 1981 was the resume wire..
So this manual should help you with some insight as to your issue.

Thanks, that gives me some good information on how it works.

My "guess" is that the control head is clogged with ? and is blocking vacuum passage. You can remove and partially disassemble to clean it out. Since it works properly at some speeds, it's unlikely to have an electrical problem, IMO.

Thanks, I will also plan some clean up. It is a 5K mile car, so not sure too much could be wrong with it.

A 1981 Corvette with 5K miles... Did the Golden Gate Bridge also come with that deal?

No, but the original tires, wheels, battery, and most everything else it was delivered with 5K miles ago did. And it just won the NCRS Bowtie Award for untouched originality at the National, with 97%+ in all four categories.......
