Default 78 Pace Car Decals

Hello all!

I want to replace the faded hood decal on my Pace Car. I purchased a set from Phoenix Graphics. I just went to a couple of body shops and Auto Detail Shops and no one will touch it......fearing ruining the original paint. I was told by the detail owner that I could put the new decals right over the old ones. Has anyone did this? If so what would be the proper prep for applying them over the old decals so they would not peel off.

Thanks in advance for any help!
Jim

I've been around a lot of Pace Cars and have not seen that application...so its never been done or it was done so well that the result was imperceptible.

Having said that, the first thought that came to mind is it would be like two layers of shingles on a roofing system and the resulting thickness.

So ask yourself what happens when the decals have a lip and what can get caught on it? You could limit it to the hood decal and see what happens rather than do all decals.

FWIW: You would be wise to be skeptical of that idea.
