Default 1973 Base Coupe: R&R Tank to Pump Gas Line

What is the recommended procedure to remove and replace the tank to pump fuel line? Does the body have to be lifted off the frame?

I just completed mine on an 81 and i assume its the same for an earlier c3. Now I'm not in the repair business but consider myself to be higher than average in the mechanical department and there was no way to get it done without lifting the body on the passenger side. Especially in the area shown. No need to lift the body off. There are many more on here that do it day in and day out. Maybe they have a way.

Hi K,
Welcome!
First Post!

Replacing the fuel supply line with the body in place with a pre-bent fuel line is extremely difficult at best.
It requires LOTS of bending and re-bending and lot's of time.
Some folks say it's impossible.

Some people cut the line into 2 or 3 pieces and use line unions/fittings to put it back together. It's up to you to decide if that's a satisfactory solution for you.

Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

It's this area that presents the biggest problems.

Cutting the lines was not a route I wanted to go but I had the luxury of the rear being out of the car and most components disassembled as I completed the body mounts just prior. If the car was fully assembled I certainly would have gone that route. Even with the pass side lifted it was a challenge.
