Trading C5 for a Ferrari Daytona repica
Yes, I really am considering this. I have a 2004 millennium yellow convertible oak interior and with just over 20K miles on it, and all of the bells and whistles. I am the second owner and I have all of the paperwork on the car.
But I have dreamed about a Ferrari Daytona for as long as I can remember. Even before Miami Vice made them so popular.
And price wise, we are in similar ballparks.
I just need to find the right Daytona.
I have been a C3 fan, and C3 owner, on and off for many years, so that part does not bother me a bit.
I know that some people think replicas are just plain dumb ideas.
But I see a car with absolutely sensual styling, and without the Ferrari maintenance pricetag. There isn't much I can't handle on a C3.
Now I just need to find the right car.

I love the Factory Five cars. You've got to make sure it was done right. Heat, air, working side windows as opposed to no or non working Windows. I've only seen and driven the Cobra, never seen the Daytona in person. They look great in the photo's.

Hi,
"Ferrari Daytona"
"I've only seen and driven the Cobra, never seen the Daytona in person."
Are we talking about 2 different cars here?
Regards,
Alan

The Ferrari Daytona (technically the Ferrari 365 GTS) is the black car that was featured on Miami Vice for many years.
This is a Ferrari Daytona replica (based on a C3 Corvette). Yes, there is a car in that picture.

My friend is 'into' them- very knowledgeable on which ones are good or bad- and what to look for.
He owns this 77 conversion- originally had a 427 in it- but followed my lead and put a BMW V12 in it.
Here's his swap-

I'll check with him- then shoot you over his contact information if you are interested.

I have looked at a number of Ferrari Daytona replicas, and I have checked out all of the ones currently on Ebay. Some are better than others.
I can live with black, yellow, or red exterior colors. No white or silver.
Also, and absolutely critical, the car I am looking for MUST also have the Ferrari interior kit installed. I do not want a Daytona replica that still has the Corvette instruments and dash setup.
McBurnie is a nice kit, and there are a few other nice kits. There are also a few not so nice kits. I need a quality car, well built, and complete.
Manual or auto trans, either is fine, but needs P/S, P/B, and A/C.
I am not in a rush; I can afford to wait for the right car.
I am also actively searching for a C2 coupe. Life is busy.

I dont think replicas are a dumb idea especially ones that are face lifts on a great platform to start with,
While admitted the 4re daytona isnt my cup o tea, its a very sharp looking re body,
Many replicas like cobras, gt40s and this one you want can and do trump the real deal in many ways,
I would be all over the fiero gt 40 if it didnt look like a constipated turtle,
But the daytona isnt like that its sweet proportions,
From my kit car stuff i was under the impression the mcburnie daytonas were the ones to have,
And while i like old school displacement it would have a priceless cool factory to run that bmw 12,
What is boils down to is what i say about a lot of things, dont settle,
If you want it go for it, nothing anyone says should matter, just make yourself happy....

Wow happy see i not crazy
yes, the ferrari daytona and the cobra daytona are two entirely different cars.
The ferrari daytona (technically the ferrari 365 gts) is the black car that was featured on miami vice for many years.
This is a ferrari daytona replica (based on a c3 corvette). Yes, there is a car in that picture.
