Emergency Hood Release Cables
1969 Corvette L46 Coupe
Could someone please post photos of their emergency hood release cables?
I need to make some up .. The photos in the older threads do not show up.
If there is a spot where I could purchase these cables please give me the site.
Thanks in advance.

A 69 is one of the easiest Corvettes to get the hood open when there is a problem. You need a 2 foot section of either hard wood or metal. I use a 2 foot breaker bar that works perfectly but anything that has some strength to it will work. You insert it through the 3rd gill back on the side gills and up to the hood catch. You can rest it against the forward firewall which is just inside the 3rd gill so you wont scratch the paint on the gill. With the top end of your "tool" against the square latch release on the hood catch and the bar resting against the firewall through the 3rd gill, you give the bottom of the bar a sharp rap with the bottom of your open hand from front to rear of the car and it will release the latch. You can practice by lying on your back with a flashlight until you have the bar on the catch. After you have done it once and figured out just where to place the bar, it's about a 30 second job to get the hood on a 69 open. Hope this helps.

All I did was jack up the car, slide under it with a light, reach up and release the catch....
to fix the release I tossed the old stock junk away, and put a length of steel coat hanger wire bent over and secured on the latch, fed it through the hole and rubber nipple, and then slid a length of fuel hose over the end by the kick panel, and bend over/crimp the end of the wire over the fuel hose end....dun.....never fail NOW.....
