Hi all. I have a 68 coupe, VIN starts with 194378S, which I think means it was made in 1967? Anyway, I bought new weatherstripping for it (car was just painted after a frame off restoration). There is a vertical L-shaped door glass weatherstrip that mounts on rear window side of the door frame. The new kit had the weatherstrips shown in the first picture, which I can't figure out how to make fit my car. The second picture shows the strips that were on the car originally, which according to catalogs like Paragon's (pictures from Paragon), are for 1969L-1977.
As I said, I see no way for the one for a 68 installs on my car. Can someone please help? Thanks!
Hi 55,
This photo shows the strip with the extra wedge in place.
When I blew it up a bit it became a little more obvious how it was installed and you can also see the head of the screw. (Silver dot, I'll bet the original was maybe black?)
I hope this helps.
Regards,
Alan
Hi Allen. Thanks for posting this. Can you please post or PM a picture that is a little closer? I just went out and looked at mine again, and can't see how the wedge at the bottom of the strip fits into that groove. The wedge is too wide. Plus, as I said, the ones that were on the car were different, like the ones for a 69. I don't even have a screw hole for the metal hole in the correct 68 strip, under the assumption that someone who owned the car before me put later model weatherstrips on. Thanks!
