Console repaint
There are several methods folks use to deal with the raised chrome accents.
Some folks recommend using 1/16" tape on the areas the paint doesn't belong.
I don't like this method because the paint builds up against the tape and you can see that build-up when the tape is removed.
Some folks paint the whole piece and then dampen a small cloth with lacquer thinner and 'rub' the paint off the painted chrome.
I don't like this method because it's not exact enough and you chance touching the painted surface with the cloth and marring it.
Because I've always used Krylon lacquer I paint the entire piece and after about 5 minutes use a new X-acto blade to carefully lift the paint off the chrome. When the blade is held at just the right angle the paint lifts off in long 'strings' because it's still slightly soft. You're not realign 'scrapping' it off you're 'slicing it off.)
It takes a little practice but is really easier than it sounds and it's not difficult to get good at it.
I still end up having to re-do a piece now and then but I think the results are worth the effort.

Alan
I use 11, 16, and 19 depending just what I'm working on. I use the blade in a simple little round blade holder… that seems to make it easier to control.
(As I said, I DO end up having to re-do a piece on occasion!)
