Being a fan of customs, the o.p. car really looks nice to me. I think it's the stripes that pull it together, the black chrome bumper car, similar, but doesn't quite do it. Of the wide bodies posted the 3rd is the the only 1 that I care for.
I own a '63 coupe and I won a '72 T-Top. I love them both. But I don't have any intention of making one like the other. They both have their own beauty. Since I do not own the split window C-3, it's not for me to say whether or not he should have made the mod. It's his car and his right. However, I wouldn't own it.
I think I like the lines of the C3 as God and GM intended but to each his own. I also have a Square Body barn door Suburban and granted the center posts are about 1/4 mile further behind the driver than that of 63 but it can still be quite the obstruction.
Anyone ever drive a box truck, pulled an enclosed trailer, or driven a semi. You don't need to see out the rear window to drive safely. You do need side mirrors and to pay closer attention.
As far as looks, I'm sure the builder thought it was awesome and many people think it looks good. I'm not one of them, but I respect the work that went into it. Everybody has their own idea of beauty and that is a good thing. It would be really boring if all cars looked them same.
I'm sure there will be people who think my 75 Vert is an abomination with it's wrong year molded in bumpers, L88 hood, Pace Car front spoiler and 18" wheels, but there will be people who like it too. I like it and that's all that counts, same for this cars owner/builder.

I don't hate it, or love it..it confuses me.
I'm all for customizing/personalizing your car..so to that, I say good for them!
At a car show, I would walk right past the over restored stock cars, to sneak in a closer look at any of these (I know what factory stock looks like, I was there).
The 63' was a styling masterpiece but functionally, the split window wasn't a big hit with many drivers. Rear visibility on a C2 or a C3 coupe is marginal at best no matter how many mirrors were available at the time.
I know an old acquaintance that years ago held off ordering a C2 till the 64's came out instead of buying the 63' since he didn't care for the lack of rear visibility.
To each his own.
Has anybody converted a vinyl top into a painted top, can it be done ? I am trying to find an Ontario Orange 1972 factory top, but can’t find one. If you know of one please let me know.
