Default tank sheet tire code

I borrowed this tank sheet since it clearly shows what I'm trying to find out, and my sheet is hard to read. What does "tire scheduling only" mean? Time to replace and I'm thinking to go original style. My spare is a goodyear wide track, but the tank sheet doesn't confirm that.

Hi dennis,
It was an indication that the car had the standard tires, (black sidewall), and not one of the tire options (white stripe, red stripe, raised white letters) offered that year.
Depending on the model year the suppliers were Firestone, Goodyear, and U.S.Royal.
Regards,
Alan

Here's a sheet with a tire option selected.
Note... there was no way to specify the brand of tire that the car would be equipped with.
Also note… this car has just one more option than the one for the sheet you posted… the RWL tires.

Thanks Alan. Would you expect to find a goodyear RWL spare in the bucket. Thats the original. Or the dealer swapped out for RWL?

"PT1" was the base black side wall tire. "PT6" was the red stripe (68 & 69), "PT7" was the white stripe sidewall (68-72), and "PU9" was the RPO for white lettered tires (69-72).

I would not not expect to find a white lettered tire in the tub, if the OEM tire was a blackwall. It's "possible" that the dealer installed white lettered tires for a buyer, but I doubt that they would have done all 5, replacing the spare too. I'd say it's more likely that the tires were replaced by a previous owner.

Hi D,
Even though your sheet is difficult to read if you post a photo someone may see a clue that might help you to determine what the tires on the car were originally.
Regards,
Alan

I suspected what gb said,(thanks BTW). The spare on the other hand has been there since 73 when I bought it. 36k. Believe that's original. I'll post the ts when I get a chance. Thanks again.

Hello Dennis,
If the above picture is your tank sticker then it clearly shows black side walls. If there was an optional tire chosen for that car it would have been shown up on the upper portion of the sticker as shown on Alan's sticker ( under the 4sp line)

My guess is the spare was replaced early on. You can also try to get a date code off the spare tire. That could put it to rest if the tire was manufactured after the cars build date.
