Default 74 Corvette question

Quick question.

Other than the "Z" in the VIN and serial numbers, anything else should I look at to verify it's a factory 454?

I've owned two L48s but no big block Vettes.

first would be 7 valve cover bolts instead of 4... the Z in 2nd digit means corvette. W in 5th digit is 454 K and L are the 2 350's.

Hi bb,
Look here for the 2 engine stamps.

The engine assembly stamp which was done at the Tonawanda engine plant when the engine was assembled.
The VIN derivative which was done at St.Louis and indicates the vehicle the engine was first installed in.

Regards,
Alan

Here's an example from an earlier bb engine pad.

Bit if it is a W car, it is orig big block even if it is 78 truck motor. Better than a K or L car with 454.

My 75 vert is gonna be a numbers-matching 454. Number on hood gonna match the number on the air cleaner...
