I am looking for some advice as to the best way to keep my garage warm during the cold New England winters. I have a 7,000sqf garage with available 240V electrical or Propane connections. I am looking to keep the garage around 60 when not in use during the winter.
Electric seems to be very cost prohibitive and Propane requires the need to vent (Not something I want to Do).
Looking for advice and or suggestions. What are others using?
Ok, so I need to clarify a few things. I meant to say 70,000BTU as opposed to 7000 Sq Ft (I will edit my original post). My garage is 625 SqFt with a ceiling height of about 24 FT. So with that said you probably agree that changes everything? Sorry that was a little on my part. I am still looking for some suggestions?
Did you sign up on garage journal? Seriously, there are 9716 threads on this subject alone. Post pictures of your situation there, I know you will get involvement. C3 owners do not have a monopoly on a somewhat off topic subject like this. Actually, it is completely off the topic of C3 General discussions.
I have a Raznor 40,000 BTU gas heater mounted to the ceiling. Vents out the side wall. Been working great for 15 years. The garage is well insulated and I leave the temp at 62* when I'm not working in the garage. Keeps the floor and everything else warm.
Next door neighbor has a 20x24 shop= we put a Mr. Heater natural gas furnace in from Northern Tool. He drops the thermostat down to 50 when he's not in the shop, sets it about 70 with a ceiling fan running. Nice in there when it's -10*.
