Left index finger got between two objects made of steel and the index finger lost. Pinched the tip and it split to the bone. Lost tip of nail, may lose the whole nail by the looks of it. Needless to say my typing skills took a hit but I have more fingers that are slower but working. The parts handling, however, is "off limits" for a few days. Sorry if I am not as responsive as usual, this kind of threw me for a loop. Pain meds keeping me from driving or operating heavy equipment so I am nearly dead in the water as we used to say in the navy. Sorry about this, not making me happy at all. I will be back soon as I can.
Good luck with your builds.

Can't make your crushed digit feel better but might take your mind off of it for a few seconds. I found out the hard way that a harmonic balancer off a 1970 454 is much more dense than the two middle toes on my left foot, especially if the targeted foot is clad in 99-Cent Store flip-flops. Treatment consisted of limping, cursing and Evan Williams special reserve. I'm pulling for your quick return to normal. "Wear sturdy shoes," my sainted Presbyterian mother used to tell me, you were right Ma.
With that title, I thought we were going to see what fiberglass bodies look like at the auto crushers... Would have rather it HAD been that - sorry to hear about your finger. If it's any consolation, fingers don't do any better between steel and wood either....
Sorry about the finger. Maybe we will give you the nickname 9 and 3/4. I work with a lot of sheet metal workers who are missing fingers from machine accidents. Hope you heal up soon!
Get well soon and don't be discouraged if it's not 100% quickly. I can tell you healing will continue for up to a year. I crushed the top 1/3 of my pinky finger and shattered the bone in several pieces. One surgeon told me it couldn't be saved. Another told me not to worry. You know which one I was fortunate to go with. Yes I have that finger. It may not be perfect but it's there and it works. The right doctor is everything. Of course take the necessary steps to avoid infection, That's imperative. Good luck too!
Good luck, that is painful and no fun at all. I did something similar to the "ring finger" on my right hand a few years ago. Split open like a sausage on a hot grill, and broke the bone in the tip. It healed up fine, so it could have been worse. But to this day still have no feeling the very tip.
