1971 LS5 Birdcage Replacement Progress
Fabricated a alignment jig and replaced 90% of my rusted birdcage.
Finished scrapped and cleaned undercarriage of rear clip/cockpit fiberglass last night.
What an ugly job!
Now finishing riveting birdcage to rear clip and cockpit area.
Will be attaching ancillary fiberglass to birdcage next.
I started my body off resto. last December. Now that I can attach photos I will share future progress with the CF.
CF. What a wealth of knowledge!
Jeff

Good for you! What a project. I couldn’t begin to know where to start on that one. I would bet there aren’t many here or anywhere that have ventured where you have gone. Subscribed for sure.

kidding aside, 90% of the birdcage? I guess the 10% you are using over includes the left windshield pillar?

I would love to see pictures of how you separated the body from the birdcage.

I was only able to utilize halo from just above door latch one one side to the other. I did not want to remove the rear clip but the right rear fender will also need to be replaced.
