The right mirror in uncomplete on the picture, but after installation; it will not help as much as what you may expect.
Not totally unusefull, but not far.
This is in the UK so they are really useful when merging etc

I'd say it's comparable to the factory drivers side. The location is key as it's fixed at a rigid part of the door panel being so close to the top of the door.
Beautiful 71. My 71 was originally Brands Hatch green as well and was painted black by the previous owner. I wonder how many Brands Hatch green 71s still exist. I like the color since it would go well with my 14 Limerock green Stingray.
A previous owner had added the side mirror on mine - incorrectly - and I got the car with two small holes in the door already. The replacement mirror came with everything needed and was easy to install. Problem was even with two holes in it already I found myself holding a drill with a big-assed bit in it looking at the door and it took me a minute to unparalyze myself to do it. Oook.
The mirror wiggles just like the original driver's side does and is only marginally useful when I'm backing it into the garage. It ain't like the mirrors on my pickup which I use all the time - still haven't leaned to pay any attention to that backup camera. If the door were intact I would have just put a convex mirror inside the garage and left the car untouched. Not trying to be a d*** but that car is gorgeous and has been without the mirror all these years.
FWIW I suggest you park it, pull up a stool and have a number of cellar temp beers and ponder it a while longer.

I'll start by trying to contact them both and take it from there.
I'll let you know how I get on.

Sounds like they are the first point of contact. From what I've heard from others , most "previous owners" are quite chuffed to hear from someone "across the pond" whop now owns their old car, and many are really helpful... Yes please, keep me posted.
