My new toy
My name is Nick and I live in Cambridge, England and bought this C3 about 4 weeks ago.
This is my first Corvette although I have always had a thing for classic American cars, I have had a Pro-street 1979 Z28 Camaro and also a numbers matching 1974 Super Duty Trans Am with manual transmission which I sold about 18 years ago (please dont ask how much I sold it for
), I believe its back over on your side of the pond now.I had been looking for a nice chrome bumper C3 for a few months and nothing was coming up at the right condition and price, just when I started preparing myself to bring one over from the States this one came up in England.
She is a '71 350 automatic with all matching numbers and the deluxe interior, she came from the factory in green and had a colour change in the 90's to Mille Miglia red, a very decent paint job that still presents very well with just a few small stress cracks. The guy I bought her from fitted an Edelbrock carb, inlet manifold and air cleaner but I got all the original parts with the car, she also came with new tyres and a full stainless exhaust system.
She came over to the UK in March 2016 and the mileage is reputed to be genuine at 47,000 miles, I've traced it back to 2008 when it was showing 43,000 and now I'm on a mission to trace previous owners and try to verify the rest.
The car is in great condition and the underneath is as good as the top, it has not been undersealed so nothing is hidden, the interior is great with no rips or cracks and she has all the original glass. The motor starts straight away and she drives nice and tight with good shifts from the auto box. I've only driven her about 300 miles but am very pleased with her so far, I think that the C3 is one of the best looking cars ever made and looks beautiful from any angle you look at it, when I drive this car on the streets of the U.K. I feel like I'm performing a public service!
Here's a few pics.
Best regards
Nick

Thanks for popping in and the car looks great. You may find more info on your car over at the C3 registry.
https://www.c3registry.com/index.php
Just search for your VIN and hope that it's listed by the PO's.
And being in Cambridge you have no excuse to not attend the Corvette nationals in Bedford next Summer. Always a huge gathering of Corvettes from the UK & Europe
Look up the CCCUK for upcoming events.
If you plan on adding the offside door mirror, mine are from Ecklers and match the original drivers perfectly. Just make sure you use the template when your drilling and measure 14 times

Stuart
I bought a '69 a few weeks ago myself, in Manza Red. It's a little ironic, mine was originally red with a red vinyl interior that was changed to the same saddle interior you have... and I want to paint it the green yours was originally!
Anyway, beautiful car, enjoy it! I know I would!
This came up as a "former resident" of the address on the POP.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

As Stuart says, good to see you on this "foreign" forum!
You'll get plenty of useful info here, as well as the C3 registry. You didn't include the documentation photos on the CCCUK site - lucky chap, the POP as well!
What route are you taking to trace the previous owners? It's something I'd like to do, but as Florida DMV (where the car went when new) can't give out info now I was stuck with spending a small fortune on what amounts to a PI to hunt down previous owners.....

To be honest I don't really know how I'm going to research the history of the car, I have an address for the original owner from the POP and I know the dealer in Conneticut that sold the car last year to the bloke I bought it from and that's about it. I'll start by trying to contact them both and take it from there.
I'll let you know how I get on.
Nick.
I often think that seeing a really cool car can make my whole day and the person driving could have easily just said... I'll take the old daily driver instead.

You're a couple of fitting missing too.
They're called rawl nuts and they have a captive nut in a rubber tube that compresses when you tighten them up. The good news is you can get them from Screwfix, just check the thread size which may be imperial

I can remove mine maybe over the weekend and make you a template or as you're not looking to find any existing fixings / backer plate you can wing it

Edit, your back plate is awol too
Edit again - parts list which is available without the actual mirror

It looks like a very nice car!!!!
I hope you get lots of pleasure from it!
"looks beautiful from any angle you look at it,"
I agree, but personally I like the rear 3/4 view as the best of the best!
So your third photo is my favorite!
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Thanks for all the info, I had no idea that some parts were missing (I guess that's what these forums are all about), please don't go to the trouble of making me up a template, I'll 'wing it' as you say, I'll order the parts from Ecklers and you can admire my work at the Nationals 2018!
Thanks again
Nick
