I would be super shocked if he gets anything near 12k
There is no " legal " way to title that car so it gives me that gross stomach feeling that its just a parts car now,
As i do not support the shady things some flippers do for titles,
Agreed.... 12 grand is very steep for a parts car! and from sitting so long, a lot of those parts won`t even be useable!
And why would someone restore a car (10 years ago) WITHOUT a title anyway? Bats is right.... I`d love to hear the back story on this one!
That is a sad sight. In that condition, I doubt may parts on it are worth much. Looks like it has been sitting outside for a long time. That car has got to have a ton of rust in the frame and birdcage.
Could someone explain Certification of Destruction for the original VIN?
That stood out to me too but of the title options on listing he picked salvage,
In fl it would be possible to get a state issued vin on a salvaged titled,
A Certificate Of Destruction means an Insurance Company paid out a total loss claim on the car. They then sold the car with a CD. Insurance companies have the choice to sell with salvage or CD titles. They pick CD when the damage is bad enough that they think the car can’t be salvaged. Insurance companies look out for each other. They don’t want to pay twice for a totaled car. Once is enough. A CD means no other insurance company will have to pay a claim on a car that’s already been totaled. No way to fix that in Florida. There may be ways to try to wash the title by titling in different states, but that’s sketchy and might still mean not being able to buy insurance. So like the ad says, parts or track car only.
Scares me. Think about it. Restored 10 yrs ago and parked cuz no title. Who is gonna restore a car with a CD title? And if they did and car sat since, why is frame rusty now?

About 15 years ago i knew a fellow restored a kit car before checking out the vin
He had a nightmare, impounded, red tape,
People do crazy shi stuff,
Plus "restored" means different things to different people

Vermont is practically advertising that they will award a title to any car that's registered there and you don't even have to be a resident. Just fill out the paperwork, pay the fee, and your plates, registration, and Vermont title comes back to you in the mail fully transferrable to any state in the US. Probably seeing all of the money pouring into Maine and wants a piece of the action.

This is really funny!
Between the guy on ebay that says he does top flight NCRS pad stamps for $1500 and Vermont, I wonder why we worry about any of the numbers or paperwork at all! It can all be fixed and taken care!
I ran into a similar "thing" when I was into Porsche 356s. Both were "barn finds" from Maine with no paperwork other than previous registrations all of two weeks old that could be used here in MA to acquire a title. Legal, but still sketchy I think, although I benefited greatly from whatever loop hole allowed this to occur.

Why risk it?
Shady illegal stuff, not my cup o tea,
Now i hear of no titles for old car, states but i also know they are cracking on title washing,
If you buy this 68 and title it in your name in a state that doesnt care, that doesnt change the vin number
You sell it to me in fl, out of state cars in fl get a vin check comes back destruction title fl turns me down on it,
