I’ve watched this abandoned C3 slowly sink into the ground at a relative’s house we visit every Thanksgiving… Such a shame. I’m thankful my 1980 didn’t meet the same fate.
Why not rescue it? Bring it back to life in a different configuration, that won't cost you a fortune to replace what's bad with original parts. Just have some fun with it.
I've gotten neglected cars away from neglectful family members before, just takes some gentle prying persuasion with the right pry bar, usually in the shape of money.
Frame has probably been rusted out for years. Until the owner wants to move it, it will sit where it is. Whatever the owner THINKS that car is worth is way more than it's real worth. Too bad....
Problem is I betcha the owner thinks it just needs bumper covers and paint and is worth 15k as-is...
OR...........it originally was purchased by his great grandfather's girlfriend, who only drove it to Church on Sundays, and then sold it to her daughter's boyfriend, who then sold it to his best friend, who drove it to his high school prom, and on and on. Therefore, it's a "family heirloom", that they could just NEVER part with........even though it's sinking into the ground, in the back yard.

That car will rot because they will be restoring it soon.
Some people think that a car with a corvette badge on it is big money. And they will hold out until it is worthless. Which they think will never happen.
SciVette, have you asked your relatives if they'll part with the car, and if so, for how much?
I'm assuming the car is also in Texas so the climate is not the worst.
Could be a great project for someone here and it's always nice to "bring one back" from the brink of extinction.
i agree with 540 vette here as that badge seems to mean a lot to some people, poor '77 owners.when i purchased my car the badges were stolen in the po's driveway.(he had put replacements so no biggie and saved the originals which i reinstalled).
By all means rescue that car. It may not be in the financial cards for YOU to bring her back. But SOMEONE here would probably drool at the opportunity to save her.
Don't let her become a relic. Make a move SciVette. You're holding the cards.
Some here, have suggested rescuing the car. Let me ask this.........if it's not your car, and the current owners neither want to restore it themselves, nor sell it to anyone else, how can you urge the OP to rescue it??
