Default 72 Audio upgrade

Hey all. Looking for a little info from the collective wisdom here. I did some searching but everything that I turned up was quite old.

1972 Restomod coupe. Looking to keep the original feel of the dash but want modern conveniences with the radio (bluetooth, USB, etc) so was considering going with the Custom Autosound USA-740 for the head unit. I think 300w should be more than what I need. Open to other suggestions on this though if people have alternatives.

For speakers I am planning on putting an enclosure in the back with two 6x9" and an 8" sub but not sure about brands or models for speakers. Something like this but again open to suggestions.

Also, I am a bit in the dark for front speakers. I *think* there are just the two speakers in the upper dash pad and no longer in the kick panel. Is that correct? If so, what size/brands/models can you recommend for that application?

Thanks all, and hope you are enjoying your post-turkey day festivities.

2 things: I have no personal experience, but have not heard good things about the sound quality of Custom Autosound units. I think the Retro Sound units are better quality. Second, the speaker enclosure you show a picture of is in a 78 or later car, with the bubble back window as opposed to the 77 and earlier tunnel back, but you might have just been putting up the picture for reference. I don't have a recommendation for speakers. I've had many different brands in different vehicles and haven't found one I love better than others.

Thanks for the heads-up. I will check out Retro Sound head units now.

As for the enclosure, yeah I realize the picture shown is 78+. It is the first pic that I could find to show what I am looking to do so it is not exact, just to get the point across.

Hi PS,
Yes, your 72 has 2 speakers mounted to the underside/ends of the upper dash pad.
The spaces for the speakers in the lower part of the hinge pillars are still available.
Regards,
Alan

This is the left side dash mounted speaker.

Original style speaker.
