I think $15-30K USD is a fair price to pay for a chrome bumper C3 that would be worthy of exporting.

Coupe vs convertible will affect chrome bumper numbers too. Take everything into account when assessing value.

Those auction cars in the link are salvage vehicles. Those are not even correct prices as the bidding is being done when they post these things.

I hope you find a car you really like for a reasonable price. (I am "restoring" a 1968 convertible in poor condition and have $12,000 invested in the car in purchase price and new parts. It still needs to be painted....just to give you an idea of prices)

There are many different configurations of chrome bumper C3's. Depending on the year, model, engine, trans, originality, options, documentation, and of course condition affects prices greatly. Prices vary between $2,500 for a junk yard shell, to $450,000 for a perfect L88. Know what you want and what you are looking at.

Any car that is 45 to 49 years old and still exists and drives down the road is much more than just a used car. These cars were not all created equal and their condition, originality and correctness can vary greatly. Some are worth more as collectables and some make better drivers. Some are not worth spending any money on because the frame and/or birdcage are rusted. If you have the car inspected by a knowledgeable person before buying, you just might end up getting what you paid for. Good luck.

Buongiorno Wonderaqui,
Una calorosa accoglienza! If you're coming to America with the intent to buy a Corvette, I strongly recommend you look further west than New York. Many of the vintage cars from that area are real rust buckets. Just a hazard of the climate I'm afraid.
If you can narrow down what year/model and price you're looking for you may be able to find the right car from one of the members here.
In bocca al lupo!
Greg

If you plan to buy a 40 -50 year old vette here you better do your homework and not rely on a dealer telling you the car is good. You have to check it yourself or you may pay for a "money pit"

Right right right I agree with all of you
my budget is around 20k
manual gear
coupe
Engine with my budget I think more probably a small block
i would like using the car but really appreciate originality
i am already studying differences among various chrome bumpers year differences
my drem would be to find a matching car here in the forum and see it personally or rather than paying for an appraisal valuation
i am very afraid from rust especially in the birdcage and undercarrige especially if it is hidden
i am not sure to be able to recognize it
any advice or information of course is very welcomed
thanks a lot

Best advice given so far.....Find someone who knows what they are looking for to inspect any car before purchase.

I looked at one of the cars in the link, and the paint, in person, was significantly worse that how it looked in the photos.

As noted, rust is an issue in this part of the world.

If you subtract money for taxes, shipping preparation & transit, and your expenses for travel to/from US, there won't be a lot left of that $20K (USD). You might be able to find an unrestored small block (L-48) '69-72 car for about $15K; but bringing it up to safe driving condition would still cost you a bundle.

If the $20K was in Euros, you might get the job done OK.

Buonasera.

Buona fortuna.
