Okay but it was just until my parts are ordered and get here, I ended up grinding a nail to take the slop out of the accelerator lever which is very nice now that the secondaries will open up. Still something not right she has a little hesitation when you get on the gas.

For what it’s worth I think I see that you have the 1969 early accelerator pedal assembly. I also had trouble with mine flexing - I ended up “upgrading” to the later single piece assembly that was less prone to bending.

000003 is slightly early, Any issues with installation I like the look of the piece.

I am going to replace my rubber and the spring while I am at it.

It was easy to do - you also have to get the 69L pivot piece:

http://www.zip-corvette.com/69l-82-a...rod-pivot.html

When I did it years ago I fabbed up a cover to keep the rod from falling out of the tray. I’m now wondering if I did extra work and that perhaps it was designed to trap the rod against the floor - and mine is installed 180 out. Perhaps people will chime in with pictures of their 69L and up pedal assemblies.

My unsolicited advice.....be careful with bubbaness around throttles and brakes.

All it takes is one wide open stuck throttle event. It usually isn't a big deal until the steering locks when you turn off the key. Don't ask how I know

Understand and agree, parts are on order for a proper fix.

I agree, 000003 must be defined as early

Wait a minute!!! You actually MACHINED a part (be it a nail or whatever) to 'modify' an assembly until the correct part showed up. Bubba would NEVER do such a thing. Grabbing a rusty nail he found on the ground....maybe. But actually machining it to a proper size? No way.

I agree....Field Engineer...

The nut on the right needed to be snugged up to take the slop out of the joint.

I can't see the nail fix you employed in your photo.
I had this issue on my '69, and was able to simply tighten up the bolt/nut that clamps the pedal rod to the bracket loop.
This took the slop out of the joint, and gave 100% translation of the pedal travel, to the bracket/cable.
I actually discovered this early this Spring, and had been driving the car since I bought it last fall without the secondaries ever kicking in!!
Tightening up that joint, allowed the cable to fully pull the linkage to WOT, giving me a newly found "Hyper Drive"!!
Easiest, most impactful fix yet!

Tried that and it will not bind up the two bars, I also tried moving the two pieces closer and then tightening, no luck.

Parts should be here soon.
