A while back, PhotoBucket changed their policy and wanted to start charging for accounts which had been free for years. Unless you put up the ransom money, your links to PhotoBucket pix broke.

Hi gr,
What's happened is that PB is now charging the user $400 per year if the user wants to post their photos stored at PB on other sites (3rd party).
They blocked all the photos the user may have posted on other sites in the past until they pay the $400.
Storing photos is still free... but not showing them on a site like CF..
if you're using google chrome
Search for "Photobucket Hotlink Fix" offered by bridgetroll.io and install it.
Reload the page and it will show the images, for now, until photobucket changes it and makes it not work again

I guess I am just at a loss as to why anyone would even consider using photobucket @ $400 a year. Sounds ridiculous.

Thanks Mooser that link worked I appreciate it. Still can't understand why anyone would pay $400 a year for the service.
ransoming some forum pics just is not worth 400 a year. that is not who they are going after.
PB wants those accounts that have big business and well embedded webpages that businesses have invested lots of money into.. they will pay the 400$ or their webpages are actually down or will need thousands of $$ in re-development to get back up...
they could probably allow the smaller accounts to pay for the data used and the smaller members could pay maybe 20$, but that is a logistical development issue.. why even mess with it for the peanuts they will get?

I would guess that if they charged the non commercial accounts like us 40 bucks instead of 400 they could have made a lot of money. Must be many thousands of folks using PB just for Forums. I'm afraid PB is in a death spiral. Doesn't seem to be a good business model.
at 5 or 10 a year, everybody would do it. once you hit 20, people will look for alternatives. they were surviving at free with their irritating ads. now their advertisers are gonna realize there is no customer base and walk away...
