You also might find that you might have to dimple in a couple of places for spark plug clearance. I have an old set of Hedmans hanging out in my garage I had to massage a wee bit for spark plug clearance and I remember having to do that on a set for a 318 in a Duster. Good luck with your project.

I looked at both sides of the 'exhaust manifold area'...
There is so little space! How can I ever get a set of long tube headers to fit properly?
The stearing box...
The smog pump gear might also be a problem. I will have to delete it.

Is 'denting' the tube the only way to get away with this? Or are there other, 'more civilized', ways to do this?

Here are some photo's:
The last photo is there, because I'm not sure if that is the smog pump?

People usually remove the smog pump when they install headers. Put it away and save it with the manifolds. You install the headers from below the car. They go in easier than it would appear they would. Sometimes a dent is needed here and there, but often not at all. Headers seem to vary a little from set to set as do the cars themselves.

Is it safe? Because they sell 'delete kits' on the internet? So must there be something else in place of the pump when removing it?

Only on the exhaust manifolds where the tubes go in. You are removing the manifolds, so you don't have to worry about that, just take the pump off.

I'm surprised no one has posted a video with sound yet.....This is my 72 stone SBC cast iron manifolds, Allen's aluminized steel chambered exhaust bolt on system.

I'm installing Hooker side pipes on my 80 (yes plastic bumper car) I was wondering if anybody tried Eastwood's internal header heat paint? and any opinions?
