Where Does This Go?
I believe this helps support the ventilation system on my '71. Just can't figure out where it goes.

Looks like the under dash brace. Do you have an AIM?

I'm not sure but by the looks of it it could be either. Alan would be the ultimate authority on '71's.

Looks larger than the dash braces, at least based on the photo from the O.P., compared to the nut driver on the bench.
Plus it looks like its hollow tubing with flattened ends. Whereas the braces are solid steel(?).

I agree. It came with a bunch of ventilation parts I bought from a guy. He said it went with the ventilation.

Hi P,
Typically.....
Coupes without a/c won't have any braces.
Convertibles (and SOME coupes) WITH a/c will have the braces on the passengers side of the dash.
When a car has the long brace the shifter console extension will have an additional piece screwed to it to conceal the left end of long brace.
Regards,
Alan
