Default Where Does This Go?

I believe this helps support the ventilation system on my '71. Just can't figure out where it goes.

My car is a coupe, but there is a possibility that this came from a convertible.

Looks like the under dash brace. Do you have an AIM?

I'm not sure but by the looks of it it could be either. Alan would be the ultimate authority on '71's.

Here's my 71' Convert. These bkt's support the steering column bracket. Look a little different than yours.

Looks larger than the dash braces, at least based on the photo from the O.P., compared to the nut driver on the bench.
Plus it looks like its hollow tubing with flattened ends. Whereas the braces are solid steel(?).

I agree. It came with a bunch of ventilation parts I bought from a guy. He said it went with the ventilation.

Hi P,
It's the lower/right-side cowl brace.
I 'believe' all convertibles got 3 braces (as D94 shows), and a/c cars got this additional brace.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks to Paul 74.

My car does not seem to have the bracket on the tunnel. Anyone have info on this or a pic or part number?

Hi P,
Typically.....
Coupes without a/c won't have any braces.
Convertibles (and SOME coupes) WITH a/c will have the braces on the passengers side of the dash.
When a car has the long brace the shifter console extension will have an additional piece screwed to it to conceal the left end of long brace.
Regards,
Alan

I'll have to check my console extension.

IIRC, those braces are very hard to find, also quite rare, someone is sure to want it, if you don't.
