69 Wiper motor - painted or natural finish?
I'm working on getting my wipers functional.
I pulled the wiper motor and I think it's correct for 69 (delco 4939300 markings). However, it looks to have been replaced at some point, based on some incorrect body color overspray on the backside. Additionally, it was partially sprayed black at some point.
I'd like to return it to original finish, but I've seen some differences in replacements offered by vendors. Some painted, some not, some with just the body of the motor painted.
What's the correct finish for 69?
Thanks,
Rick

Hi R,
I believe typically the die-cast ' frame' was left natural.
The stamped metal cover on the frame was zinc plated.
The 'can' that covered the motor itself was zinc-plated.
The plastic cover over the pump mechanism was black plastic.
The nuts that attach the frame to the firewall studs were zinc-plated and had integral black rubber washers.
The 'can' typically had a small silver label on it that contained a part number and Julian date in black numerals.
Regards,
Alan

Burning Brakes
Here's a photo of mine from my 73 after I removed it for clean up....Yours would pretty much be the same. Note that my washer pump(small square looking attachment on the left of the motor)was replaced and is black plastic. Originals including your 69 pump were all white plastic. By now though it would be yellowed from age.
Hope this helps!

This is an original motor
This is how it would have looked new.
The headlamp washer would have looked like this new and would have part numbers stenciled on it. (I have original pictures if needed).

I am surprised one of the self-proclaimed re-engineering experts from the forum's mod squad hasn't come on this thread and criticized you for wanting to restore something correctly to the way it left the factory. Wait and see...
