Rivnuts, Google it. I had to do all eight of mine. You will need a tool but it will not be the last time you use them.

Bend a cotter pin and fit it into the hole and then put the screw in. The cotter pin will make up the space.

Bent piece of safety wire or a paper clip in the hole first, under the sill plate.

I used small red Sheetrock anchors. Worked great.

I HATE Riv-Nuts....I would rather TIG or MIG WELD for Originality......BUT........

If you use several drill (bits) to GRADUALLY IN STEPS drill a "TIGHT" hole for the Riv-Nut to be forced into...........the Riv-Nut will "grab well/securely when riveted....and should NOT "spin/get loose" UNLESS you try really hard.

I used stainless steel rivnuts but instead of compressing them with the tool I epoxy glued them into the holes, so far so good, have been in place around four years now.

The good news is...if the anchors ever fail, you have the "repair kit" in your tool box..........

used a metric screw, they are slightly larger - fit well.

When I re-do the interior, I will make repairs..

Default Zip tie

I use a piece of a zip tie in the hole. The plastic will give enough to make it tight. Two will work for a large hole. Jerry
