BBC engine choices.
I am trying to decide which size to go with 502, 540 or 572. The price difference is a concern but I have some sway with the home finance official. If you are driving one of these why did you pick that CID and not one of the other 2.
Answers to anticipated questions:
1972 convertible original Big Block, 4 speed, car. No engine or transmission and has not been on the street or had a motor in over 10 years. The person I bought it from bought it without a motor or trans. I have a Tremec 5 speed kit on order and built a 370 rear end.
Thanks for all input

If it were in my yard, I go with the closest dated, to the car, 454cu. in.
But that's just me. A BB '72 was a cool car just the way they were built. AND it's a convertible! WoWza!
Let's see some pic's, please!
Edit: FORT WORTH ROCKS! Love it

I also have a 72 that was an original BB car. It came with an auto and 327.
I went with the ZZ502 crate engine. I also changed over to a M22 4 speed. I was going to get a larger engine but where am I going. I am not going to race it. 502 HP is more than enough for the street.

White Performance on ebay, unless I overlooked it, has no place to ask a question or show where they are located or a phone number.
That would bother me before I'd flop down $12,000 or $14,000 or any amount!!!

572 is a tall deck engine. so exhaust and hood clearances will be a issue. a 454 or 502 from GM will be the simplest. the more torque the more your prone to break the rear end and half shafts. so the more cubes the more you need to spend else where

I'd look at all of the choices- I just built a 496, but I already had the block. If I had needed a block, I would have a 565--
A tall deck block seems to be a real hassle in a Corvette- header clearance, hood clearance.

yes 572 = tall deck.. which means a new hood, finding a body man to install/adjust/paint the hood, match the paint..
a 454 or a 496 ( a punched and stroked 454) would be the easiest swap from a reinstall/fitting of all your parts standpoint..

Also depends how sticky your rear tires will be. Your U-joints might fail and you might twist a half shaft. I wouldn’t bet the farm on the rear either.

I would go with the one set up for low idle,
off idle torque, and one that doesn't need to idle at 1k and feather the clutch.
depending on where you live, daily driving should be a pleasure not a
working effort to stop and go.
