ok, power locks, just rebuilt my actuators.
they were gummed up.
my switch is on the doors.
if i remember all the wires go to passenger door there first.
as far as engine, well a lot can be done to the small block 350.

I do not believe 71 ever came with power door locks. Maybe around 78+

I want to thank you for posting this and thank you for showing some pictures of the car. It highlights what I am calling "early restomod" work but we may have just called it modified or custom back in the day. It is or was one person's vision of what the car could be and or another example of what I have run into which is I just needs parts and if it fits and works that is good enough for me.
Whatever the case may be I appreciate you showing the differences and good luck with this one, should be fun.
Best regards,
David Howard

As was said above, 71's were not available with power door locks. They first became available in 78, and the switches were on the door panels.
From the pictures, it appears your power door lock switches may still be on the door panels. The power lock switch is a square chrome toggle switch, that says "LOCK" on the bezel. The manual lock *****, are the chrome ***** inside the arm rest.

Does it have PDL in the doors just not hooked up? Do you want PDL?
If the car had power windows then there is a rubber conduit between the car and the door and the wires for the PW run through there. If that isn't there then you'd have to drill holes in the door and jamb and then get some rubber conduit to seal them etc etc etc.
You can add PDL to early doors fairly easily, sneak the wires through the exiting conduit and wire them into the switches that look like they are on your door panels already
Here's a picture of a power lock actuator added to a 72 door linkage
The pivot arm that it's attached to is welded on top of the original bellcrank but people have done the same idea with large washers
I wired it with remotes so there are no switched inside the car for the doors

If you were going to add PDL you might want to check the 78 panels you have to know there is some room down there, otherwise look at where they put the actuators on the 78+ years (vertical as I recall)
