Default Parts Help for 81 Corvette

I seem to be missing the trim parts that cover the lock pillar post on my 81 corvette. The carpet was replaced by someone else and it is simply tucked behind the flange, so when I close the door there is bare metal showing. Can someone please send me a pic of what this should look like and also a part number would be helpful. Thanks

That is correct. That fiberglass area was painted body color, and you don't notice it with the door closed. Carpet tucked behind is correct.
Mask and paint it black if you wish, but that's the way it came factory.

The 1980-1982 cars all tucked behind the rear filler panel, 1978-1979 cars had a different design and had a welting that clipped over it to cover that edge finished out with some Velcro. But.. and someone correct me if I'm wrong, the inner edge of that panel (the white in your picture) was supposed to be painted the interior color and not the exterior color.

Very well could be. Since mine is black on black, it is by default.

the color of the edge matches the color of the exterior. Mine is charcoal.

I had never noticed it until i saw this post. I had to go out and take a look at mine see the picture below.

See if these will help, taken while replacing my carpet a couple of summers ago. I recall everything being painted (red) body color from the factory. Good luck.
