Many thanks

Tach redliines:
300hp----5300 rpm
350hp--6000 rpm
390 and 400hp--5600 rpm
430 and 435hp--6500 rpm

On the speed warning, wasnt it basically a needle set it at a speed and it buzzes,
Was it a rare options, did any certain cars automatically get it?
Thanks

Speed Warning was something that GM came up with in the late 50's. It used a pointer that you set at whatever speed you wanted, and when the car's speed reached that pre-set position, a buzzer went off. Originally it was only offered on GM's high end cars, but with the national push toward car safety, in the late 60's, GM made it available on almost all of their models. Speed Warning was only offered for 3 years on Corvettes, 67, 68 & 69.
In 71, my father bought a new Buick Electra, with Speed Warning. There were a few occasions where he was foolish enough to let me borrow it. I use to like to keep setting the pointer higher and higher and buzzing it, 70, 80, 90.........
A friend of mine is restoring a 67 coupe with a base 327 and 3 speed, and only 4 options, an AM/FM radio, headrests, shoulder harnesses & Speed Warning. Quite a strange assortment of options. His father bought it in 85, from the original owner, a woman who I guess was very safety conscience.
