I was discussing the wiper door assembly on my 69 L71 with my builder. He tells me that all BBs of that vintage had the high rise/long hood that eliminated the need for the wiper door. The car as I got it from my brother's estate has what looks like a BB hood, is badged 427 and it fits the car with the wiper door in place. Not sure if I have all the actuator parts (haven't got that far yet). The car came with a SB in the frame but I built a tri-power 427 for it. So will that fit under the short hood? Unless for some reason the original BB hood was swapped out to a SB. None of the other BB parts seemed to have been swapped out, I was told the previous owner exploded the original motor and had a SB hanging around so he just dropped it in.
I would find another builder if I was you. One who actually knows what he is talking about.
He's good with the mechanicals and electric, just not the nuances of body work and options. And there were a few adult beverages involved! I have a separate paint/body guy.
