Hello
Doing a minor restore on my L82. Does anyone have any feedback on the urethane bumper available from Ecklers?
Also, I think I found the problem when I hit a bump with the driver side tire the steering begins to shake. Replacing the A arm seems to be the fix, should I replace them both? thanks for your help.
check your idler arm, see if it is worn out, don't see how an A=arm would cause that, all parts for it are replaceable AFIK, IMO I see you are a new member here, WELCOME to the forum!!!! any experience with older cars?? Tell us about your problem, lets us help you fix it!!! where are you located?? maybe another member near could help you.
Welcome to the Forum! Tell the expert members your problem(s). They can save you hundreds of $$$$$. Put the saved money in your Vette piggy bank and use it for upgrades.
I will have my car painted with the money I would have unknowingly spent on unnecessary items.

Yes, I've owned my L82 for 24 years and a few other cars. Idler arm was mentioned by it seemed A arm was more the issue. The problem has happened maybe 4 times since I have owned it. If I hit a bump or turning left at a higher speed the steering would begin to shake badly until I lowered my speed or turned back straight. Wife is going to be driving it Can't take a chance. Long time reader, finally registered!

Welcome to the forum.
If you have power steering, check the tie rod where the cylinder attaches.
Mine was loose on my 73 and would let the wheels shake when I hit a bump at times.
Just a thought.
jack the car up and put it on jack stands, then shaking the wheel and see what is loose. Look for bushings that are worn out or missing(that's right missing). you need to check under the car to see what is wrong or take it to a mechanic that find out for you, so , if you want to, replace the parts yourself. its happened 4 times in 24 years??
Yes... I appreciate the help. It could definitely be something missing. I've put less than 3K on it during that time. Time to enjoy it.
Welcome aboard!
In 2016, I replaced the original bumper with a fiberglass one from Willcox. Had it painted and installed by a by shop. Considered urethane, but went with fiberglass after reading other's experience on this Forum.
I just had the car repainted 3 years ago(man does time fly by), I used fiberglass rear & front bumpers, the originals finally just crumbled away from age, & the car is always in a garage. The new bumpers are not wavey, and the color is not a little off color like with the original ones. JMO You may have to leave some of the parts under the bumper off to get it to fit, or at least modify them.
