doing some winter projects I came across a hard rubber hose that attaches to the hardtop. My AIM'S book list this hose as item#16 in page UPC CO7,sht A5. I need to know what is the length of this hose. I do have a hard rubber hose the correct diameter but I don't know what length to cut.
also,in UPC 12, sht D2 picture show the single wire going to the positive side of the coil and two wires (20 Y& 20 W-R/B) on the negative side.
In my DocRebuild's picture shows the two wires go to the positive side of the coil. Which is correct??? I have the two wire hooked up to the positive side of the coil, car runs great.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi Mike,
If you look at UPC 12, Sheet A8, you'll see Note 'B' indicates that the double lead from the harness is attached to the positive side terminal on the coil.
It appears the wiring diagram has it reversed.
Here's a photo of the top of the coil on my 71 350/270.
Regards,
Alan
The plus side has the double lead from the engine harness and the black lead from the distributor.
The negative side has the black lead from the condenser.

Curious to find out about this rubber hose.

thanks men on the right wire hook-up to the coil. My vette is a convertible with a 350/270 engine. I'm sure there are other mistakes ( or maybe not) as Alan pointed out in AIM'S. Now if I can find what length to cut the hose for the hardtop.
Mike
Hi Mike,
I looked at the AIM and see the detail showing the short piece of hose.
Judging by the drawing it looks like it could be an inch or inch and a half long.
But that's not good enough.
I think you're best (only) hope is that someone with a hardtop car will take a look at their car to see the length of the hose.
I'm not even sure of it's purpose. Are you?
Regards,
Alan
