Just curious if there are any forum members in Key West? My son is in the Coast Guard and stationed in Key West. He just so happens to be looking at a Corvette but really doesn't know what to look for when getting a C3. I pointed him to the forum and told him to look at the buyers guide. I was wondering if there is anyone out there that would be willing to look at the car with him.

My opinion is the air is too salty in key west for a corvette to have a long happy life. Your nephew probably isn't gonna be there more than a couple of years, but I would buy a vette that lived around orlando, not where it has been exposed to ocean breezes for a long period of time.

That would really depend on where and how it's kept. Lots of million plus cars in key west of all shapes and sizes. I live at the coast on an island in Fl. mine has never seen a day or night in the air.

If you look at my build thread you can see where mine just being out side in the dirt for an extended period of time left mine with a lot of surface rust but no rot on the frame , at least none that I found so far !

I'm only ten miles south of Orlando so I agree that it depends more on how it's been taken care of !

Mine has the same surface rust, but it all came from Atlanta, Ga. Where my dad had kept it in a garage for 30 years.

Just make sure it recently was not under 10 feet of ocean water.

Now that is a VERY solid point, but should be pretty obvious.

My son is now an owner of a74. The car is originally from Alabama and as luck would have it was owned by a retired Coast Guard Officer. He is happy with it and seems to have gotten a good deal.
