Hi B7284,
I drove my 71 during the whole winter of 71-72.
Depending on what was covering the road the car would often want to go sideways as much as forward....I think I was still on the original Firestone Wide Oval tires during that period.
I also remember banging on the headlight doors and wiper door with my fist to break the ice off them so they could open.
Still loved it!!!!
Regards,
Alan

My wife and I have spent some pleasant time around Traverse City..... but during the summer.

I had no choice back in the late 70's / early 80's as the Corvette was my only car ('64 followed by '68). The lock on the '64 used to freeze all the time. Could not resist taking the car into a snowy parking lot for a quick few donuts. On the other hand, I remember being stopped on a small bridge and watching the car behind me sliding down while I had nowhere to go. Fortunately they got it stopped just in time.

Sorry guys, just can't do it. Corvettes in winter (or any sports car) is a no go for me. Drove my brand new '81 Camaro Z28 a few times in the winter of 1981 (forced to and it killed me). To this day - I never drove any of my "toys" again during the winter. Sacrifice a beater. Canadian winters suck.

Come-on, BK. Don't drag all of beautiful Canada into this. I've been all around Ontario and they aren't that much worse than Michigan. I respectfully think you mean "Saskatchewan Winters suck".

Lakeside49 - you nailed it right on - winters here are ugly. Spring can't come soon enough.

BTW - your red '82 Vette is gorgeous.

Take care, buddy.

Coming from a best friend in the oil industry who was born & raised and now again proudly lives in Saskatchewan (moving back from Colorado) and could live/work anywhere in the world, your Summers/Falls are among the finest in the entire North America. So, hang in there - Spring is already just around the corner.

From my Dads home video collection cira 1973.

I drive mine (my Vette is my daily driver) in all conditions except for snow and ice. I think it would do OK in the snow but I don't trust other drivers and most of them don't know how to drive in the snow and are idiots even when the sun is shining.

Vettes aren't designed well for snow travel. Back in the old days, lol, average folks weren't as prosperous and drove their vettes in winter. These days, if you own a vette where ice and snow is an annual event, most average folks have a winter beater or a second car/truck. My, how times have changed.

Driving them in the winter is why most of the frames are rusted out back here.
