Default Side Marker Lens Source?

Is there a retail source for side marker lens these days?
I want metal housings, not the plastic repros. I suppose I can cut out the lens from the plastic marker the PO bought, but that seems a little wasteful to me.

Thanks for any info on this Folks.
Steve

Hi Steve,
When I think of parts like lenses I generally think of those made by Trim Parts.
I took a look but only see them listed as 'assemblies', not as just lenses.
???
Regards,
Alan

Alan,
That's information (company) I didn't know of. Thanks for your time in checking for me.
I was honestly looking toward the challenge of seeing if I can remove and install the lens and have the result in a respectable appearance.

The side markers were always sold as an assembly. The lens has never offered separate from the lamp housing, either by GM or the aftermarket.

70-74 used the lamps with the metal housing, 75 up came with the plastic housing.

Thanks GB,

I was afraid to hear that that's still the case. Appreciate the timeline info though.

Default Side Marker Lens Transplant

From start to a perfect fit.
No idea how deep the lens side was, so took a look with Dremmel cuts.
Removed as follows, cutting housing corners to facilitate removal without cracking lens. Glue was not very tough.
Once out and cleaned up, it fit the metal housing perfectly.
Going with a clear RTV, sparingly but on the entire circumference.

And if you butchered them, which you didn't, at worst you lose a set of aftermarket lights you were replacing anyway...

Agreed Derek!
On any job, chore, mod, or procedure, I look at the risk and weigh the benefit. Sometimes I lose , but most of the time it comes out as hoped.
