Default 1969 Window crank *****

Brand new and first time owner, so be kind please...

While looking through a judging manual I found a passage about the ***** for manual windowi that states "in 1969 the ***** are black". My 69 convertible has clear (yellowed) ***** and I guess I was sure they were original since they do look old.

Have you seen originals that were clear instead on black?

Thanks much!

The ones on my '69 are clear also, although I do recall reading something to that effect in the NCRS judging manual as well.

Hi m,
Welcome!!!
69 Convertible!!!! NICE!
I just took a look at the new NCRS 68-69 TIM&JG and the Interior Section indicates the ***** on the cranks were 'opaque' on 'early' cars, but were black on 'later' cars.
Looking at the code on the Trim Tag located on the driver's side door hinge pillar and also looking at the 'build sequence' number that's part of your car's VIN will help you have an idea of when your car was built and which **** it would have 'typically' had.
Regards,
Alan

Perhaps a few photos of you car?!?

Mine was built in October so I guess that’s obviously a “late” build. I can only guess that the assembly line had some of the clear plastic ***** in stock the day mine was built?
