power antenna on a 1978 corvette

After you remove the "top nut"(finial) you pretty much need to disassemble the entire antenna to do the repair.
The nylon cable inside that pushes the mast up and down is broke and the broken cable will be wound up inside the motor.

I would say just replace the antenna rather than taking apart a 30+ year old part , I do not recommend the Ecklers antenna I just bought one all it is is a universal antenna with a dozen parts you have to go through and figure out ... I would say look for a better replacement , I think the one I got cost $114 something like that.
Same type of function and basically same repair.
I like to keep things original, and assume unless told otherwise that the Vette in question is hopefully low mile.
