As I was tearing my steering column apart today on my 69, my key buzzer switch broke into several pieces. The plastic was disintegrating. I see the replacements are pricey. I really don't even want the buzzer to work. Can I leave this switch out without hurting anything else?
This is a standard column.

I personally wanted to fix mine because it wasn't working as it should.
I have left keys in cars before by mistake.
So I couldn't get it to work right. I'm not taking the column apart again just for that.
