I’m going to go and look at a 69 BB hood that I am thinking of buying for my 68. I would like to know if the hood latches from my current 68 hood will bolt on without a problem or will I have to use the 69 hardware? Thanks in advance.
I have no answer to your question, BUT I just did like you would like to do, my car is a 69 Coupe project car.
I did find a VERY nice 1970 454 GM factory hood.
My price was $600, with the chrome hardware, and 454 text (will be replace with 427, a new 427 sbc will come into the car)
I'm happy :- )
My initial thoughts would be it should fit. But ‘68s have some unique parts. I would check vendor parts books online to see if the hinges and hood support are the same for 68 and 69. If same should OK.
I think the 69 hood should work. The thing to check are the hood latches, because there were a few different female hood latches used between 68 and 76.
In 68 there were two different lefts, one that was only used at beginning of 68, and a later one that was used through 76. The right hand latch was the same for all 68-69's, but changed on 70-76's.
If the latches are on the hood, you should be okay. If the latches are missing, make sure the latch mounting holes in the 69 hood, line up with the holes in your latches.
