On my '75 I pulled the drivers door and replaced the pins, bushings and spring. When removing the spring the bottom loop broke off with minimum force.
My question is, with the door still off, it seems to take incredible effort to move the hinge from the open to closed position. I understand having the weight and leverage of the door on may make this normal, but based on the last spring breaking I wanted to make sure it was correct before reinstalling the door. FYI, the assembly looks correct based on the instructions and passenger door. Also, the rollers rotate fairly well.
I found out that after putting the spring in it needs to get tapped back up to lock in the notch on the bottom of the hinge. Due to the last spring being broke when I took it out I didn't notice the notch.
I just replaced mine and took less than 10 minutes per side. Check out this video from Willcox Corvette. I purchased my new door pins and springs from them and followed the video.
