draining the gas tank
well its been a long time since i have started my 75 coupe. been sitting for about two years now. so i think i should drain the gas tank before i even think about starting it. so my question is, do i siphon the gas from the top or is there an easier way to get the old gas out.
thanks for any info

Hi Scott,
Since your 75 tank has the sender at the top of the tank, (as compared to being on the bottom of the tank on 68-74 cars), I'd say using a syphon seems to be the best way to drain it.
Regards,
Alan

Scott..
If you remove the sender you can use a shake hose (my techs call it by another name... lol something to do with Jack... and off topic) .. but you insert this into the tank... shake the heck out of it and it builds up prime and sucks all the fuel out of the tank....
They are quite handy to have around and it never fails that a car comes into the shop for a tank issue.... with a FULL tank of gas. The actual name for this is called a "Jiggler" pump.... As bad as I hate to say it the China imported Harbor Freight carry's one that works great..

I have a '72 that's been sitting around for a number of years - any suggestions on how to easily drain its tank?
