Default T-Top/Windshield trim missing

I managed to get this old car (1980 Coupe) back to Texas from Florida. Though she isn't exactly what she was described, overall, she isn't too bad. I do have a question...it appears that all of the trim and seal has been removed from the windshield, and I do not have all of the parts, can somebody post a similar picture so that I can see what all I need to purchase, as well as how it should all fit together?

I do have the aluminum T frame that fits across the top of the windshield and down the t-post to the back, but nothing from the back middle to the edges, or the interior trim between the center t-post trim to the interior corner trim!

thanks in advance for any assistance!

I thought I had that in the original message, but I didn't! It is a 1980 Corvette Coupe (C3). I will go back and edit the message. Thanks!

Hi S,
Might these be the trim panels you're looking for?
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, they possibly might be. All of the screws for everything attaching to the windshield and the "T", including the trim were missing when I showed up to pick up the car. I do not have a clue what I need other than I need it in black or chrome.

Hi s,
I can only see a "?" where your photo should be so can't be sure what you're describing.

Alan

Alan, I basically have a bare window frame with a few clips and a few holes where screws were mounted. No inside or outside trim, and no body putty or sealer. I do have in place the aluminum cast pieces to hold the T-Tops on, but no weather stripping of any kind. Additionally, I have the chrome aluminum T trim that goes on top across the top windshield and down the T to the back portion of the roof. No screws in anything at all, including the cast pieces.

Thanks

Stones.. I can post all kinds of pictures.. but are you on the front windshield frame or the rear window trim? I'm sorry.. I'm still not clear on what you are needing.

Willcox is being modest, but he also sells kits with all of the replacement trim hardware (screws, etc), that you will need if you can source the rest of the parts. A 1980 Corvette Factory Assembly Manual (commonly called the "AIM" for assembly instruction manual) will really help you as well. Even better, taking a look at an example car will show you the parts you need. Have you searched for a local Corvette club?

What does the trim tag say in your driver's doorframe? Was your car originally black inside, or, like my 1980, was it originally red, and someone painted or swapped out for black? You can decode the trim tag and a host of other things here:
http://corvettec3.ca/
For example, in 1980, "19" was Black, "83" was Red, and "76" was Dark Claret.

I have a spare set of black halos that I don't need if you get stuck. I'm slowly turning my interior back to red.

Willcox, I am referring to the top and inside of the front windshield. I do have red trim going up the insides of the front windshield on the outer posts, but no screws, I need black plastic trim rather than red too. Inside, I have no plastic trim going from the post to the "T" on either side...if you have an email, I can send you a picture. Apparently, I am not smart enough to post a picture that is viewable in this forum. LOL...if you can help, I sure need to get her together before the rainy season starts here in Texas.

I haven't decided the trim tag yet, but I believe the car was Black on Black, and the guy was trying to make it have a red interior as the door panels and side post front window trim is the only things red on the car. What are you referring to as "Halos", I am probably going to need them. LOL

respectfully,
Stone

Terminology can be a killer when describing the parts and locations on the C-3's. I always suggest you place yourself in the drivers seat and then start from left to right in the dash to describe what you are looking at in the car.

Example: Left A-Pillar trim; Upper window trim; Right A-Pillar trim; upper dash pad; lower left dash pad; lower right dash pad; lower left and right kick panels; center console covers; then back up over your head to the center T-Top center trim; you should see your T-Top pads if the T-Tops are in the car; then moving from front to back in the cockpit you find the Left and right halo trim; then down to the Left and right rear quarter panel trim. If your interior is going to be black, so will all of those parts be black along with the door panels.

When you do the sitting inventory you can list what you have, list what you need, then give Wilcox Corvette a call, they will hook you up.

Have fun with the new car.

across the windshield is just the stainless "T" the runs to the back window, no seal , screws directly to top of windshield frame, your T tops have the weather seal on them. inside there is the plastic that runs left to right, again no seal, and under the T bar is another vinyl covered panel that runs back to the windshield that houses the courtesy light.
I'll get some pictures later and post them here, also I see your interior is red, I have the vinyl panel with the dome light and the 2 pieces Alan posted , that go from the T bar cover to the side of the back window, in red if you need them.
While there were no seals across the top under the stainless trim, there was a "sealer" of some kind on mine.

I don't think the panels were vinyl covered in 1980, at least mine were not. Just molded plastic.

well maybe the front header along the windshield was plastic, the others on my 81 were more of a vinyl than plastic.

Thank you Suprkoop, your description seems right On with what I am seeing. So it looks like I will need the screw kit for the plastic (left to right across inside of windshield) both the driver and Passenger side, as well as the black plastic pieces. Also will need a complete screw kit for the aluminum cover. That tops the windshield and t-bar going towards the back! Perfect start! Now I gotta go find Wilcox and get an order placed!!! Thank you so much! This gives me a place to start!!!

I probably can't afford the set, but dang it would look good!

If you like the red, but want to get on the road fast, I've had some success painting trim pieces with SEM paint, following their instructions, and using the entire system (cleaner, prep, paint). There are folks parting out cars in the for sale section that may have interior parts for cheap that you can then turn into whatever color you want. The side window frame pieces are tricky, as they have a black section closest to the the windshield. In post 16, you can see that the Halos and the T-Top Center Panel also have this black section near the rear windshield. It's good that you have at least that part, as reproductions are $250-.

My wife's car is Oyster (white), and looks great. I chose to go with Oyster for my above the beltline parts and painted the Halo, windshield trim, center panel, and replaced the visors. I like it. Red and black everywhere else. I just picked up a set of seats that the PO had finished hard parts with red SEM paint and did a great job.
