Toss the cat too, as that also acts as a muffler, and you will enjoy the exhaust fumes as it creeps into you car. I tried Borlas on my 80, the resonation was unbearable, especially on the freeway. Reinstalled the stock mufflers. Keep in mind the possibility of carbon monoxide leaking into the car.

Why should a cop care if he has mufflers? They don't seem to care if Harley owners take them off.

EXCELLENT point!!!

I live about 4 miles, or so, down the road from Xerox's main assembly plant. The facility works 2 shifts, and in the summer, I can always tell when it's about 10 minutes after midnight, as 4-5 guys from there, come roaring down the road, on their way to a nearby "watering hole". I can hear them, starting from about halfway from their workplace, through the remainder of their trip to the bar.....

Oh but the Harley riders loud un-muffled exhaust is for "safety", so others can hear them coming. Well, I want to be "safe" too!

Yes, they need an obnoxiously noisy bike for safety but don't you tell them they have to wear a helmet!

motorcycles here in ca risk being stopped for
loud exhaust.
cops will put a decimal meter on them.
also gives cops a right to check vin numbers.

many a harley has been impounded for frame numbers and
questionable engine case numbers.

on cars i hate overly loud exhaust.
no need for it.
seems it is the slow cars that have this.
i see many cars get on the throttle making a hellacios racket
and go no where. slow as molasses.

I wish they'd do that here. I regularly encounter explosively loud motor bikes. They startle me and no doubt others - that can't be good for safe driving.

they will write you up for defective equipment , as far as noise many towns use decibel meters to check Harleys for loud exhaust , I ride mine with stock mufflers do not want aggravation .. I know what your saying but not really the same thing unproper exhaust in a car could result in personal injury.

...and yet it's OK for motorcycles to 'split' lanes of traffic and drive between cars. What can possibly go wrong.

Let's not turn this thread into a bashing of Motorcycles and those who have them.

Not bashing motorcycles or owners, just the laws regard them allowing unsafe operation (helmets and lane splitting) and the lack of enforcement of some (mufflers and noise).

I've got nothing against motorcyclists with a properly muffled bike.

Cats are already gone. I have magnaflow mufflers on it currently but want it to be even louder.

Straight pipe it - DO IT! No exhaust tuning or nothing - just loud & popping all over.
