Default Three Horns?

NCRS Manual says there should be two horns/dual tone. So I took the center grille out to check them. The two small horns are there and function properly. But then there is a larger horn located below them. It does not operate. I thought it might be an alarm but cannot find any other evidence of an alarm system. Anyone ever seen this setup? I'm hoping the pictures show up.

Model year (possibly 68)? Offhand, it looks like a stock horn but not in a stock mounting location.

Hi t,
I believe you'll find that the horns were typically mounted on the rear of the headlight re-inforcement bar.
68-70 cars had two horns while 71 and 72 cars had a single horn.
I don't think there were ever three horns.
Regards,
Alan

This is a 71 car. In 71 cars had just a single horn. On cars with 2 horns the second horn was mounted about 8" to the right of this horn.

That`s what I was thinking.... one that plays tunes like "La Cucaracha" like the low riders all have?

You have to admit the stock horns aren't very loud so the previous owner must have added an addition horn. Just my opinion.

My 68 has two horns. Some previous owner added the third horn.

Why stop at three?

Great for those daydreamers/texters ahead of you at the green light.
