I hear ya on the front cover. I won't even attempt it. The body shop will do 100% of job this fall LOL.

I would NOT remove the impact bar under any circumstances. it is there for safety and with me being a business. I would then cause for me to be liable. And for me...it is just not worth it. I know I can move the impact a bar and make it so it is not a causing any interference.

AS for drilling out the rivets for the tail light housings. IF your bumper is basically filled in where the taillights go...and the taillights can be mounted to it. Then these housings really do not need to be there. Remember..your old bumper was urethane and these parts provided added reinforcement for support and to try to keep the bumper cover frio m distorting.

NOW...also talking about these taillight housing supports that are riveted to the body. GM...in later years...when they stopped riveting these taillight housings to the body. They attached them to the impact bar. But what they did not do is provide any support at the boding strip. SO the seam could crack. THEN...GM realized that they DID need a reinforcement there and actually put s thin metal hockey stick looking plate that allowed it to be attached and it was installed to give the top corner and bonding strip added strength.

She goes in tomorrow to the shop and using the new retainers and selective tightening sequence it is much much better looking. I'm excited to get her back in about 4-5 days from the shop. I was worried there for a while.

I just wanted to report back that I got my Vette back yesterday from having the Truflex bumper fitted and modified plus painted. I am so happy how the fit up came out. Truly wonderful. All in all it cost me $1300. They had to remove the bumper cap 7 times to get it right but the guy they put on that aspect of the job was a true master. I can hardly wait till I can afford this shops services for a new paint job some day
