Default front springs 454 question

folks, I removed the front springs fromt 71 454, now noticed there appears to be a top/ bottom, so which way do they go back in? spring appears to have a top/bottom because the coils at closer together at one end. guess I should have taken a note when I took them off, lesson learned

Hi a,
The closer together coils are the top of the spring and are inserted into the frame pocket.

Also, the cut end of the spring must be properly 'clocked' in the frame pocket and lower a-arm.
If you look carefully you'll see there is a circular recess that the last coil seats in.
The cut end of the coil should be very near the small round hole at the end of each recess.
Regards,
Alan

This is the BOTTOM side of the lower a-arm but clearly shows the circular recess and small hole.
